ABOUT GOD AND PURPOSE

God is love.

From love God created the heavens and the earth.

God exists in community as Father, Son and Spirit, or 'three in one'.

From love the Father sent the Son into our world.

His Son Jesus lived, died and rose from the dead so that all who believe and give allegiance to Him might experience relationship with the Father once again.

Just as the Father sent Jesus, in turn Jesus sends the Spirit to reside in the life of every God follower. It is the Spirit living in each believer who motivates them to live like Jesus and remakes them to be more like Jesus.

God's desire is to heal, cleanse, and restore a broken and needy humanity back to Himself.

His purpose for our lives is that we might come to know Him through placing our personal trust in His Son Jesus. The life of Jesus shows us how the Father intends us to live. The death of Jesus demonstrates the depth of the Father's love for His world and provides a means by which all people may discover forgiveness from guilt and shame. The resurrection of Jesus reveals that He has power over death itself and that through Him alone people may experience freedom from the fear of death and subsequently begin to experience a fullness of life.

His plan for our lives on earth is that we might then partner with Him in establishing His loving mercy and justice here on earth. The purpose of a community of Jesus followers is to seek to respond to all forms of evil with good. Therefore at New Community we seek to be mercy givers and justice bringers in our glocal communities for Gods good so that they might be a foretaste, a living proclamation of the kingdom they believe is to come.

Jesus will return.

He promises to recreate a new heavens and earth where there will be no evil.

He promises to call all humanity to account for how they have lived.

His followers are to be living and modelling his lifestyle until that day.
